After some suspicions, confirmation came Wednesday evening, the Tour Colombia 2025 is canceled due to financial problems. The stage race was already experiencing budgetary problems in 2022 and 2023, making it impossible to organize an edition. That changed last year thanks to a financial commitment from the Colombian Ministry of Sports and the race returned to the Cycling calendar. It is precisely because of the reduction in this support that the race has encountered problems again this year.

From 300,000 to 100,000 euros budget
The Colombian Ministry of Sports is one of the main sponsors of the stage race. Nevertheless, the government body decided to reduce investments in the Tour Colombiareports the newspaper The Time. The amount would go from 300,000 euros for 2024 to only 100,000 euros for 2025. A considerable loss of money, and fatal for the organizers.
The Colombian federation expressed itself in a press release. “We understand the importance of the Tour of Colombia as an event of international significance and a source of national pride. We will therefore already work in an articulated manner with the new executive committee to manage and guarantee the necessary resources that will allow its return in 2026, with the quality and greatness that characterize this career” they declared in particular, believing that the priority this year was “the development of new talents and encourage the growth of the sport in all regions of the country.”
