This is an observation shared by many French departments. Incivility and attacks are on the rise in recycling centers. The latest news item to date, an agent at a recycling center near Caen in Calvados was attacked by a user then grabbed by the throat, as reported by our colleagues from France 3 Normandie. In Tarn, the situation is also worrying. “From January to September 2024, the Union recorded 108 malicious acts within its recycling centers. Damage, theft, verbal but also physical attacks, violent acts continue to increase” we explain from Trifyl, the joint waste recovery union.
According to a survey carried out by within the 37 Tarn recycling centers in the network, from January to September 2024, the malicious acts are divided into 70 damages and/or thefts, 36 incivilities and/or verbal attacks and two qualified situations “exceptional”.

Faced with the incivility suffered by its agents, Trifyl wanted to highlight the men and women who, on a daily basis, work in our 37 recycling centers” announces the departmental union. A communication campaign aimed at the population has just emerged with different slogans “At the recycling center too, let’s be respectful! » or even “At the recycling center too, let’s be patient! ». “Visible in particular on social networks, on display media, and soon in recycling centers but also in certain town halls, it reminds everyone of the behaviors to also adopt in recycling centers” specifies Trifyl who hopes that the messages will make it possible to “put an end to these actions”.
