Christopher Froome (Israel-Premier Tech) has now reached his 40th birthday, and the four-time winner of the Tour de (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017) spoke about his future for Velo during the Singapore Criterium. The Briton may be arrested at the end of next season, but he is not ruling out anything. Before retiring, Froome would like to take part in a Grand Tour, having not taken part in one for two years.

I haven't decided yet if this will be my last season next year, but it seems more than likely. Returning to a Grand Tour would be a truly special way to end it, whether it's the Tour, the Vuelta or the Giro. When I was a as a young runner just starting out in the sport, my goal was always to reach the age of 40 and continue competing. For me, it's always been: 'I want to do my best until I'm 40.' declared Chris Froome.

He would like to return to a Grand Tour. I believe I could play a key role in providing support and mentorship to many young people, particularly those looking to aim for the general classification of a Grand Tour. It would be really cool to be able to go to a race like the Tour and mentor a guy like Derek (Gee) for the general classification.” he added. He also explained his feelings about the evolution of : “The sport has evolved a lot in the last five years, it's changing. I find racing a little less enjoyable than before, but part of that is because I can't win anymore.”
