Tour de France 2025: a time trial in Caen, and no mountains before… the tenth stage

Last week, we revealed several key points of the route of the 2025 edition which will start, as a reminder, from our region on Saturday July 5. After the three stages in -Pas-de-, the peloton will leave Hauts-de- via to reach .

Three days also in

The riders will still be in Normandy the next day for a time trial around the city of . It is our colleagues from Ouest-France who reveal this information, also specifying that the region will be as well served as ours, since a third stage between Bayeux and Vire, in , should also be on the program on the sixth day.

The next day, Friday July 11, as we revealed to you, it is indeed an arrival in Mûr-de-Bretagne which will be on the program. An ascent for punchers, where the favorites could still show their teeth, because we will still have to wait a few more days for the mountain.

Mont-Dore, first mountain stage

Indeed, as could be expected, the choice of the organizers to organize the big departure from the North and to head west will postpone, in rare proportions in recent years, the arrival of the high mountains on the big loop. After passing through then Châteauroux, town of the new Minister of Sports, Gil Avérous, the peloton will indeed arrive in the Massif Central, with the arrival at the summit of Mont-Dore.

This stage should be that of July 14. With the national holiday falling on a Monday in 2025, Tour organizers are expected to push back the traditional rest day by 24 hours. And it won’t be a luxury, because the second part of the event will be indigestible for many runners.

Superbagnères, 36 years later

Indeed, after a passage through the South-West (?), it will be heading towards the Pyrenees, with one of the events of the 2025 edition in perspective, the return to Superbagnères. The legendary resort has not hosted a finish since the exceptional 1989 Tour de France, marked by the fight between Laurent Fignon and Greg Lemond.

Hearty menu in the Alps

Then, after a West-East crossing, the peloton will face, as the Voix du Nord revealed at the end of July, via Mont-Ventoux before two very tough stages in the Alps, including one at the summit of the Alpe- d’Huez.
