Gravel: Lapierre unveils its new Crosshill CF range

Lapierre has just unveiled its new gravel range, which places the Crosshill CF in a more sporty spirit.

Since 2016, Lapierre has launched into the gravel universe with a first Crosshill aluminum range intended for sport/adventure gravel with a Bikepacking tendency. This Tuesday, October 8, the French brand has just presented a new range equipped with a brand new carbon chassis which gives the Crosshill CF a more sporty spirit. And like all Lapierre models, its unique design and design sets it apart on the market.

Crosshill CF, Gravel performance according to Lapierre

Gravel is a discipline that has quickly diversified into multiple sub-practices: bikepacking, adventurer, ultra-distance, race, light gravel, mountain gravel which means that, depending on the place and how it is practiced, Gravel designates a general practice, but not a discipline. The Crosshill CF completes Lapierre’s offering in the field, targeting a new segment: that of performance and surpassing oneself for short outings as well as very long distances.

The new Crosshill CF is:

• 1 new carbon frame design
• 1 practice performance
• 1 more engaged geometry
• 1 frame compatible with suspension forks
• 1 frame compatible with UDH rear derailleur hanger

Comfort at the heart of the project

The new Lapierre Crosshill CF benefits from a lightweight, 100% UD SL frame for greater elasticity and responsiveness. As with its road range, Lapierre stands out from the competition with a different shape of the frame under the seat post. This is the new 3D Tubular E, which leaves the seat tube free along its entire length for more flexibility thanks to a larger rear triangle.

The Crosshill CF provides up to 12% additional vibration absorption at 40 km/h. Flexstays stays which provide vertical flexibility thanks to their elliptical shape and a double S-shaped break at the top to accentuate vibration absorption. A frame compatible with a maximum 40 mm suspension fork and 700×45 tires.

Rigidity and geometry

To be efficient, the right frame must be light, dynamic and remain comfortable. The weight of the bare frame is 1000 g, including 404 g for the fork (size M, raw finish). Lapierre opted for a UD SL design in Standard Module fibers with exclusive draping of the prepreg around a latex coated core. This manufacturing process makes it possible to better compress the carbon plies and guarantee the best weight/rigidity/comfort compromise.

Design and frame design:

• Cadre 100% carbone UD SL
• Controlled lateral rigidity
• Increased vertical flexibility
• Feeling light and responsive
• Internal passage of cables and hoses
• UCI approved for competitions
• Compatible mono ou double plateau

Built for speed and responsiveness, without sacrificing stability and a comfortable position for long distances. The new Crosshill CF perfectly reflects the vision of comfort and performance for gravel, both on the flat and in technical or steep sections, to give confidence to every cyclist. Compared to the Crosshill aluminum, the new Crosshill CF is:

  • A slightly shorter top tube for a compact position
  • A much straighter saddle angle (1.5 to 3.5° depending on the size)
for more efficient and efficient pedaling.
  • Chainstays 5 mm shorter (430 mm) for more responsiveness in
restarts without compromising the use of large section tires
    (700×45 max)
  • A bottom bracket 4 to 5 mm* higher to eliminate all the
    obstacles
  • Now available in size XXL (6 sizes XS to XXL)

Designed for bikepacking

Faithful to the gravel spirit, the new Crosshill CF frame is equipped with multiple attachment points for carrying light luggage and other bikepacking and protective accessories such as a mudguard.

• 2 fixing screws on each side of the fork
• 2 fixing screws on the top tube
• 1 bridge on the stays to fix the mudguard in addition to the screws provided at the base/stay intersection
• 3 attachment points on the fork for a mudguard
• 1 universal saddle clamp
• 1 UDH rear derailleur hanger

Optimized cockpit and DT Swiss wheels

The new aluminum stem allows discreet and simplified semi-integrated mounting for internal passage in the headset. This semi-integrated routing also facilitates maintenance while maintaining a clean line and aerodynamic gains. All models are equipped with a handlebar with a 12° flare for comfortable riding on long stretches of trail, hands at the bottom of the handlebars. The aluminum handlebars (models 5.0, 6.0, 6.0 S) have a drop of 114 mm, and a “Rise” of 12 mm to ride more comfortably with your hands at the top of the handlebars. The carbon handlebars, with a “wing bar” type profile (models 7.0, 8.0, 8.0 S), have a slightly larger drop (122mm), and a “Rise” also more pronounced by 20 mm. The aero profile on the upper part of the carbon handlebars improves handlebar grip for better steering control.

In terms of performance, all models are equipped with WTB Raddler TCS Light tires with a section of 700×44 mm, Tubeless Ready compatible in order to ride at low pressure and gain comfort. The two highest-end models receive DT Swiss carbon GRC 1600 wheels with wide rims and aero profile. The models below are equipped with DT Swiss semi-aero aluminum wheels, with a wide profile. They contribute to the performance and comfort of the carbon chassis. The straight chainstay has a soft rubber CSP which dampens noise in technical portions and protects the chainstay from any chain wear/marks.

Lapierre Crosshill CF 2025 Range

With a view to use on rough and technical routes such as mountain paths, two models have a full suspension fork with hydraulic cartridge for maximum sensitivity and more comfort on rocky paths. The 40 mm SR SUNTOUR GVX32-S with handlebar lock equips the 6.0 S model. The Rockshox Rudy Ultimate and its 30 mm of travel is found on the 8.0 S.

Seven models make up the Crosshill CF range, two of which are equipped with a telescopic fork with 30 and 40 mm of travel for more rugged use in the mountains. Reliable and precise in all circumstances in rapid gear changes, the SRAM AXS (XPLR) electronic transmissions as well as the new Shimano GRX Di2 equip five models. They are perfectly suited to sporty and performance use. Single or double chainring? Lapierre offers both possibilities. Double chainring 48-31 for Shimano GRX models (mechanical or Di2), single chainring 40T for models equipped with SRAM AXS XLPR Prices range from €2,799 for the Crosshill CF 5.0 to €6,999 for the Crosshill. CF 8.0 S.
