Tour de Watopia 2024, the festivities continue for the 10th anniversary of Zwift

A special promotion!

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Zwift is launching a special promotion between Monday September 30 and Sunday October 6. Customers who will buy a home trainer on Zwift.com will receive a pair of Zwift Play controllers worth €99.99.

Additionally, anniversary rides will take place October 3-7, giving Zwifters the opportunity to ride with stars like Mathieu van der Poel, Sir Chris Hoy and athletes from CANYON//SRAM Racing.

Tour de Watopia 2024

Each stage will be open to runners and cyclists, with different distances for cyclists (short, standard and long) and two options for runners (standard and long). If Zwifters participate in one of the scheduled group events – which will take place every hour, between Tuesday, October 15 and Tuesday, November 18 – they will see their XP doubled, allowing them to purchase more items in the store, unlock new areas of Watopia and obtain unique outfits and perks. They will thus progress twice as quickly as usual.

Following their successful debut last year, stages can also be completed on demand, offering 1.5 times the usual XP, and everyone who takes part in the round will have the opportunity to unlock new limited edition products.

Step 1

October 15 to 21: Downtown at Volcano via Epic

All three options for cyclists start in downtown Watopia and then follow the hilly routes of Whole Lotta Lava (short), Figure 8 (standard), and Watopia Mountain (long). Running options (standard 5k and long 10k) include sections of Whole Lotta Lava.

Among the key points of the Figure 8 route, we find the Hilly KOM (0.9 km at 5.5%) and the Hilly KOM Reverse (2.4 km at 2%) which date from April 2015, which makes They are the oldest climbs on Zwift. The JWB sprint also features on the Figure 8 and Watopia Mountain courses. It’s Watopia’s oldest sprint, named in honor of Julynn Washington, a pioneering Zwifter. Watopia Mountain also features the Epic KOM which, at 9.5km, was Zwift’s longest climb when it debuted in March 2016.

Step 2

October 22 to 28: Jungle at Alpe du Zwift

The tour heads to the Maya Jungle on the short Jungle Circuit and standard Serpentine 8 routes, which first appeared in October 2017, requiring riders to swap their road bikes for mountain bikes for this leg.

The long route takes the Road to Sky route and includes the imposing climb of Alpe de Zwift (12 km at 8%), which debuted five years ago and is inspired by Alpe d’ Boo, with its 21 hairpin bends.

Running options (standard 5k and long 10k) include sections of Road to Sky.

Step 3

October 29 to November 4: Fire at Titans

The tour moves east for the third leg. Participants will travel through Tempus Fugit (short), Sand and Sequoias (standard) and Eastern Eight (long) which all pass through the Fuego Flats desert, dating from 2019.

The two longest rides also head into the forest to climb Titan’s Grove KOM (1.6 miles at 2.2%), while Eastern Eight takes the flat underwater routes of Ocean Boulevard. Fun fact: Tempus Fugit is currently Zwift’s most popular route.

Race options (standard 5k and long 10k) include sections of Sand and Sequoias.

Step 4

November 4 to 11: South coast at La Montée

This stage follows the Going Coastal (short), Mayan 8 (standard) and Itza Party (long) routes. Going Coastal and Itza Party go via the coastal route, introduced last October. While Going Coastal doesn’t include any notable climbs, Itza Party offers four climbs, including a challenging summit finish on the Itza KOM (3.75km at 3%).

Race options (standard 5k and long 10k) include sections of Mayan 8.

Step 5

November 12 to 18: To discover later

Zwifters may notice something strange emerging from the ocean just off the coast of Watopia in recent weeks… Could these be ancient structures? All will be revealed on Tuesday, November 12 when stage five explores this historic and exciting new land.

Registrations for the Tour de Watopia are now open. Once each stage has started, it will also be possible to complete them at any time before the end of the tour on Sunday, November 24.

The Zwift Ride Smart Frame available again

The Zwift Ride Smart frame that I presented to you in detail in June was quickly unavailable due to high demand.

It is easily accessible to adjust the bike to any rider, making the Zwift Ride perfect for sharing by multiple users.

Saddle height, handlebar height and reach are adjustable via three clearly identifiable clamping points on the frame. Designed for cyclists from 152 cm to 198 cm, the Zwift Ride quickly adapts to each person’s body shape thanks to the bike fitting card specially designed by Zwift.

The integrated handlebar with dual control pad allows full control of Zwift from its handlebars to navigate menus, give Ride Ons or deploy PowerUps with the press of a button… Perfect trigger powerups and sprint up on the panel!

The integrated controls cover all the essential features for a successful bike ride. Virtual shifting on the Zwift Ride is quiet and delivers perfect shifting, every time, with gears to suit each terrain, Zwifters can select their preferred shifting style – Shimano, SRAM or sequential.

Good news, this Zwift Ride Smart frame priced at €799.99 is available again.
