The contenders for final victory on the PETRONAS Tour de Langkawi 2024 had to rise to the occasion this Tuesday during the 3rd stage, considered the most difficult of this 28th edition. With two ascents in the second half of the course, the climbers had beautiful terrain to express themselves, and at the end of the 170.3 kilometers that were to be completed, it was Max Poole who won at Cameron Highlands! Winner for the first time among professionals, the 21-year-old Briton defeated a group of eleven riders in the sprint.

On the attack on the last climb of the day, the rider of Team dsm-firmenich PostNL did not manage to make the difference, but he was able to remobilize for the sprint, during which he showed his superiority. On the line, the young and slender climber beat the Ecuadorian Harold Martin Lopez (Astana Qazaqstan Team) and Italy Thomas Pesenti (JCL Team UKYO). This success allows Max Poole to take the lead in the general classification to the detriment of the Russian Gleb Syritsa (Astana Qazaqstan Team), which logically exploded during this 3rd stage. Poole is respectively 5 and 6 seconds ahead of Lopez et Pesenti.
