The Belgian semi-classic Binche-Chimay-Binche will once again offer a paved and hilly route through the province of Hainaut. Last year, Luca Mozzato won after a five-man sprint after catching up with the best in the final meters on the cobbles of Binche. With a similar profile to last year, the race should once again be tiring and the scene of a technical finale on the cobbles. A finale which will once again not be conducive to a regular sprint.

Who to win the race?

The Belgian semi-classic has often smiled on sprinters specializing in spring classics. After Danny Van Poppel et Christophe Laporte, Luca Mozzato had won by making the difference in the final, on the cobbles, in the sprint. It will be a safe bet that this year, the winner will have the same profile.

With Amaury Capiot, Florian Sénéchal, Matis Louvel, Miles Scotson, Vincenzo Albanese et Jenthe Biermanse, Luca Mozzato will be able to rely on a strong collective, specialists in one-day classics. The Italian sprinter, 2nd in the Tour of Flanders this season, will inevitably be favorite to succeed him. However, he will have to face renowned sprinters who should take the start.

Jasper Philipsenconsidered by many to be the best sprinter of recent years, is expected to headline the race. The one who won Milan – San Remo and finished 2nd in this season, will line up in a race that should perfectly suit these qualities.

On the side of the Soudal Quick-Step, Tim Merlier et Kasper Asgreen should be the two leaders of the Belgian team. With the former winner of the Tour of Flanders and the most prolific sprinter of the 2024 season, the Wolfpack will have certain assets to win. In a sprint or alone, the men of Patrick Lefévère will be followed.

Arnaud De Liethe Belgian champion also showed his advantage at the Quebec GP and should play the leading roles.

Finally, Magnus Cort Nielsenannounced at the start, will be a serious outsider for victory. Very versatile, the Norwegian sprinter, comfortable in difficult one-day races and on cobblestones, will take advantage of his versatility to aim for victory.
