The Americans beat the European team this Sunday during the Solheim Cup, at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville (Georgia).

The United States team won golf’s Solheim Cup, the women’s Ryder Cup, by beating a tough European team on Sunday at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Georgia. Lilia Vu earned the half-point the United States needed by finishing tied with Swiss debutant Albane Valenzuela with two birdies on the final two holes of the course. “It was a personal dream, and I am so happy to have made it come true.”said Vu, who, after his draw, allowed the United States to lead 14.5 to 11.5 and secure the victory, no longer able to be caught when there were three singles remaining to play.

The last time the Americans won this biennial event between teams from two continents was in 2017, and Europe had won the three previous editions. “It was an incredible weekend, we were very united”declared world No. 1 Nelly Korda, who had never won the Solheim Cup before. The twelve players from each team faced each other in singles on this last day. The European team, in which Frenchwoman Céline Boutier distinguished herself on Sunday by winning her singles against Lexi Thompson, did not disgrace herself, only admitting defeat with three singles remaining.
