The two Chinese e-commerce websites Shein and Temu are facing off in court. Shein sued its competitor in the United States at the end of August, filing a complaint for non-compliance with intellectual property, reports franceinfo. The company, which had already been sued for the same reason by Adidas and H&M, accuses its Chinese counterpart of having plagiarized its clothes to attract new customers.

After the complaint was filed, Temu denounced the “incredible audacity” of Shein, which “dares to accuse other companies of the same reprehensible conduct for which they are constantly attacked in court.” This battle between the two giants is not only being fought in the courts. Indeed, in the ultra-fashion sector which generates hundreds of billions of dollars each year, Shein and Temu are trying to conquer new market shares in Europe and the United States.

Temu, which is progressing quickly, has established itself in two years in many countries, even surpassing Shein. In France, for example, it ranked seventh among the most visited e-commerce sites, three places ahead of its rival. Amazon, which is still in the lead, particularly in France, is closely monitoring the progress of these two competitors who practice very aggressive prices.
