A spectator accuses her of “ruin the atmosphere“, he replied: “You are a fool“
The former juror of the M6 show delivered a performance taken from his show Smaïn jokes finely and which is not on the same register. “He began to tell us about his life, that he was a child of the Ddass, an orphan, of his adoption in France, that he had been turned away from the conservatory… It was very dark, very dark and not very funny especially“, explains the spectator, “Frankly, we quickly became saturated.“So, a woman in the room shouted: “You ruin the atmosphere, Smaïn!“ He then replied: “You are a fool“. From there, people started leaving the room.”sometimes moaning out loud“. The hosts of the show intervened to stop his intervention.
Production in embarrassment: “We were as taken aback as the public.”
Following this incident, the producer of Absolutely Hilarious, Mathieu Wilhelm explained in a press release that he felt “very annoyed“. “This is not at all the essence of our show. Failing on stage happens to everyone. But we can't insult the public. Smaïn is an artist that we really like, who has already performed for us. He then resumed his greatest sketches. We don't know why this time he decided to play something else, without telling us before (…) we were as taken aback as the audience“. As for the director of the room he declared: “His intervention was too different from the first three artists. It was not the same register“.
Smaïn apologizes and admits his mistake: “I accept, it's my fault“
For his part, Smaïn recognizes his mistake. “I accept, it's my fault. I should not have performed in this context, not with this text“, he confides. He believes that he was “not to [sa] place” : “I was completely disconnected: my text is quite theatrical, with silences, not in the van. I apologize to the public“. However, he denies having been disrespectful towards the spectator: “I called her an idiot, which is not an insult to me, and I invited her to come and debate with me on stage“. Ultimately, what hurts him the most in this affair is the reaction of production. “It's insulting to me. And then they knew my show and they were the ones who came to get me. I am very disappointed with their attitude.”he concluded.
