A little clarification before we begin: we played the game of comparisons for fun. There is nothing scientific about the exercise.

Today, an apartment with similar criteria in the same area is worth between $1,750 and $3,000 per month, according to research carried out on Centris.

2010

15 years ago, an owner was looking for a tenant to move into a 4 1/2 located very close to Joliette station, on the green line. The asking price (including appliances): $660 per month.

In 2025, for the same price, you would have to settle for a room in a shared apartment. For a 4 1/2 in the same area, you would probably have to budget two or three times more for the rent.

2005

In 2005, gay and lesbian couples could finally marry legally… and move into a “clean” and “quiet” 4 1/2 on the ground floor of a plex in Rosemont-la-Petite-Patrie for $750 per month.

At the same time, a 4 1/2 near the Jarry metro station, in Villeray, was listed for $550 per month.
