Among them, that of the American actress Laura Dern, who owes the filmmaker the first significant role of her career in Blue Velvet in 1986.
On his social networks, one of the director’s muses shared his sadness, but also wished him a « Happy birthday ». « I will love and miss you every day for the rest of my life »wrote Laura Dern in a short message accompanied by a photo in which we see her, with a smile full of admiration and tenderness, looking straight into her friend’s eyes.
Palme d’Or in Cannes with Sailor et Lula
The American actress was catapulted to film stardom in the 1980s, when David Lynch cast her in her first title role in the film Sailor et Lula (1990) alongside the famous Nicolas Cage. His performance, as well as the director’s work, was rewarded with a Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival that same year. Laura Dern then appeared a third time alongside the American director in the drama Inland Empire in 2006, then a fourth and final time in 2017 with the series Twin Peaks : The Return.

His Hollywood colleagues did not fail to also pay a final tribute to David Lynch.
