Princess Stéphanie of Monaco, president of the eventsaw the big picture. But this tradition seems not to be to everyone's taste…
Stéphanie de Monaco, a very involved president
When Prince Rainier III died in 2005, his daughter, Stéphanie of Monaco, who inherited his title. But at the same time she also became the president of the 47th edition of the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival, a highly anticipated festival every year.
After intense preparationswhich took place under the famous Fontvieille big top, the artists took the stage on January 17, 2025 and will continue to perform until January 28. The public will have the opportunity to see clowns, acrobats, aerialists, but also animal trainers. Petit Gougou, the Ringmaster of the circus since 2003, will once again be there.
Stéphanie de Monaco is committed to various causes
Stéphanie of Monaco is quite rare during official events of the princely family. This does not mean that she is not committed, on the contrary! The princess invests in causes who are close to his heartsuch as the organization of the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival.
-Since 2004, she has also been the president of l’association Fight Aids Monaco. It fights against HIV and AIDS, supporting people affected by the disease. But the princess is also the godmother of the Prince's Carabiniers Company.
A 47th edition that is causing debate on social networks
Stéphanie of Monaco is therefore very respectful of the traditions of the Principality. Every year, the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival entertains thousands of people. But the enthusiasm is not shared by everyone. And for good reason, since the princess defends the presence of animals in circuses.
For many, these are acts of abuse. On social networks, several photos of Stéphanie de Monaco alongside artists and circus animals (notably elephants) were commented on by animal rights defenders. They criticize the Festival for still offering acts with animals, something that many circuses in France have stopped doing. But the princess remains true to her beliefs and continues to propose an incredible showwith varied programming.
