“Our universes are extremely close”
Valérie Perrin, companion and co-writer of Claude Lelouch, speaks in the columns of Paris Match this week about a fairly natural collaboration with the director, whose universe, she says, inspired her. “Our worlds are extremely close,” she says. “A long engagement Sunday influenced me a lot in my work, especially for my first novel The forgotten Sundays.”
-She co-wrote the screenplay for this adaptation with Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Guillaume Laurant, the filmmaker's loyal collaborator.
“For this film,” assures Jean-Pierre Jeunet, “there will be no Amélie fantasy, no shot of a beating heart, because that would be too much.”
“But there are elements that already excite me before shooting them. When Valérie writes that death is like a dog slaloming between our legs, ready to bite us at any moment, I immediately visualize how I am going to put this in pictures”, he confides to Paris Match.
