If his face tells you something, it’s possible since the young artist made a brief appearance in a similar show in 2022. “I participated in The Voice in 2022 during blind auditions. With the stress and the lack of experience, I have a little flopped my performance and I still had it in my heart!”
When he saw the auditions coming Star Academythe one who operates a dairy farm saw it as a unique opportunity to be able to “get back on his feet”. Happy with this opportunity, he does not hesitate to say that his simple presence during the first broadcast this Sunday will be a success for him.
“When I started playing, it was country music that made me want to sing!”
— Joël Vogt, candidate in the running for “Star Académie”
A presence in regional events
Having first played the guitar as a teenager, Joël followed his interest and studied guitar, pop and jazz for a year at CEGEP, before resuming activities on the family land. “Singing came later around my 20s. I have never taken lessons, I have no vocal technique as such,” says the man who nevertheless managed to carve out a place for himself in the industry.
“It doesn’t matter if I enter the Academy or not, the important thing for me is to offer a performance that I will be proud of.”
— Joel Vogt
Joël Vogt does not currently make a living from his passion for singing, but that does not prevent him from having a well-stocked track record. He started with contracts in bars, before being invited to bigger events like the Saloon festival, the Générations festival or the Saint-Tite Western Festival last summer.
“When you enter the world of festivals, you can get noticed. I was approached at the Saloon to go to Saint-Tite and I spent six days there this year!”

If, by his own admission, it will be difficult for him to abandon his precious guitar, the young man says he is ready to explore various styles and learn along the way. “I like several genres, with the guitar, I have dabbled in pop and jazz.”
“But it’s country that connects with me the most. It’s the genre that made me want to go beyond the guitar and which comes closest to my voice. Maybe because I’ve been in agriculture since I was born, but country has a true, authentic style that resonates with me completely.”
Between now and his performance on Sunday, the young singer says he is more feverish than nervous. “We visited the studio and it seems like I feel confident. Maybe I’m in denial, but I just have excitement and gratitude for the beautiful trip that time. We’ll see if the stress kicks in on Sunday!”
If the nature of his performance remains secret, Joël indicates that the production gave him a song to perform which is outside his comfort zone. The young man fully intends to take up the challenge imposed on him. “I was given a song completely out of my usual style. But I modified it to be able to successfully show my color,” confides the candidate in the running.
You will have to listen on Sunday evening to find out if the Centricois who also plays other instruments such as drums, piano, bass, harmonica or even mandolin will succeed in carving out one of the 14 places at the Academy, and thus, take his revenge to demonstrate his talent in Quebec.
