Snoop Dogg has praised dedicated firefighters battling blazes in Los Angeles as the city continues to be engulfed in flames and more violent gusts of wind threaten new neighborhoods.
A series of 23 fires have already affected Los Angeles and surrounding areas over the past week. More than 12,000 buildings and vehicles were destroyed or damaged, at least 25 people died, and 200,000 residents were forced to evacuate.
During an appearance on the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! On Monday evening, California native Snoop Dogg praised firefighters for taking on the “toughest job” imaginable.
“They’ve never been praised, they always show up and they do what’s best. And when the work is finished, it’s as if we forget about them. But we have to give them a lot of credit right now, and that’s what I’m doing,” he began.
The rapper – real name Calvin Broadus – went on to talk about the show of solidarity he experienced within the community.
“People don’t look at differences, they just look to make a difference [par leurs actions]“, continued the 53-year-old musician, specifying that his team was collecting donations in his clothing store in Inglewood. “Often when we collect these donations, some people don’t understand. What my team does is go out into the field, make direct contact and make sure no one is missing. This is what we do, it’s all about love, man.”
During the conversation, Snoop Dogg indicated that he was willing to perform in a benefit concert to help raise money for fire victims. However, he wants to be sure that the amounts collected reach their recipients.
“There was talk of concerts to raise money for the victims and people who lost their lives in this situation. I think that’s more the angle I would lean towards, which is to do a concert without getting paid and take my revenue and the ticket revenue to make sure that people get something. proposed Snoop Dogg.
