In 2011, Jeff Baena and Aubrey Plaza met. Ten years later, the two lovebirds announced their engagement on Instagram. “So proud of my wonderful husband @jeffbaena who is dreaming of a new movie that takes us to Italy to do more mischief,” the actress wrote in the caption. In addition to being kindred spirits in their private lives, the actors were also close partners in their careers: “When you’re with someone from the same background, they understand what you’re going through on a deeper level. We’re able to support each other and really understand the journey we’re both on.”

But on January 3, Jeff Baena pronounced dead after being found unconscious by one of his assistants in his home in Los Angeles. The actor was then 47 years old. Faced with her husband’s suicide, the actress then made a big decision: she deactivated her Instagram account this Sunday, January 12, 2025. A simple error message is visible: “Sorry, this page is not available”. No doubt a way to be able to grieve in complete serenity and to no longer be disturbed by the thousands of messages that she certainly received after her husband’s suicide.
