“I’m a soul man, I’m a soul man, I’m a soul man, come on!” »: you may have recognized the chorus of the 1960s hit Soul Manwhich we owe to the duo Sam & Dave. Since the morning of January 10, 2025, the last member of the soul group has died.
It is about Sam Moorethen aged 89 ansannounced his agent this Saturday January 11, 2025 at Guardian. His comrade David Prater died in 1988 (in a car accident).
Some success in the 1960s
Sam Moore died in Coral Gables, Florida. According to details from his agent Jeremy Westby at Guardianthe singer died “following complications that arose while recovering from surgery.”
Formed in 1961the duo (also nicknamed “Double Dynamite”) was especially famous in the 1960s. In addition to Soul ManSam & Dave signed other hit songs, like Hold On, I’m Comin’, Said I Wasn’t Gonna Tell Nobody or You Got Me Hummin’.
But, throughout the 1970s, the duo separates (and briefly reconciles). Before burying any chance of returning to the forefront in 1981.
Sam Moore, whose talent and music influenced artists such as Michael Jackson, Al Green and Bruce Springsteen, was inducted along with Dave Prater into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
