VIDEO – The “Star Academy” host lost his father seven years ago. Evoking his memory is always synonymous with emotions, as he proves this Saturday on France 5.
“It’s beautiful”. This is how Nikos Aliagas comments on an extract broadcast this Saturday, January 11 in “C l’hebdo” where the host’s father, Andréas Aliagas, declares his pride in him. It was on Greek television in 2003. “His hero”as Nikos Aliagas likes to call him, died in 2017.
This tailor from Athens immigrated to France in 1964. “Sometimes I say to myself, if this boy hadn’t left his country with a small suitcase and he hadn’t arrived at the Gare de Lyon with nothing… He’s a kid. He sleeps on a bench the first night. He had left to start his life again. He was a child of the civil war, of the dictatorship”says Nikos Aliagas with tears in his eyes facing Aurélie Casse.
He is in me like a little conscience.
Nikos Aliagas about his father in “C l’hebdo”
“You can’t imagine the number of times when I pass by the Gare de Lyon and I look at this bench, I say to myself “it’s thanks to you, Mr. bench there, that I am here”. Because he wanted a better life”he continues. It is also to pay tribute to him that Nikos Aliagas baptized his son, born in 2016, Andréas.
From his father, he remembers a precious teaching: “he taught us to love France viscerally, but also not to forget our roots. We can do both, one does not prevent the other.assures the host of “Star Academy”.
“I miss him but that’s in the order of things. When you lose a parent, it’s difficult, but you also have your children. We forgive our parents. We tell ourselves that they did the best they could and we try to be better”he continues before concluding, still with emotion: “He is in me like a little conscience”.
