In a message posted this Friday, January 10 on Instagram, Miss France 2025 assured not to “guarantee” the attack which targeted the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo ten years ago.
After the controversy, comes the reaction. Wednesday January 8, Angélique Angarni-Filopon caused considerable controversy. Indeed, at the microphone of Sud Radio, the Miss France 2025 a “preferred not to comment” when Gilles Ganzmann asked her if she is “Charlie” on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the attack on the premises of Charlie Hebdo . On social networks, the reactions were not long in coming. Some X users strongly protested while others agreed with the 34-year-old from Martinique.
Seeing the criticism amplify, the management of the beauty pageant and the young woman chose to react publicly. Thus, in a message posted on Instagram, Angélique Angarni-Filopon admitted her clumsiness. “In my role as Miss France, I owe myself neutrality on certain subjects to avoid any misunderstandings and arouse any controversies.she recalled. But I understand that my non-reaction on such a sensitive subject could have sparked so many comments”she nevertheless conceded.

“Obviously it would be an aberration to think that I could condone such barbaric acts which leave families in mourning. Charlie Hebdo touches on profound issues and of course, freedom of expression is essential in France”she added. And to conclude: “I strongly condemn these terrorist acts which are an attack on the fundamental values of our society, in particular freedom, tolerance and respect”.
Less than a month ago, just a few hours after her coronation, Angélique Angarni-Filopon refused to answer a question from a journalist from “Sept à quatre” on the Mazan rape trial.“I’m not comfortable, I’m not comfortable yet. It’s not the time, I’ve just been elected, I don’t necessarily want to and then, no, I’m not comfortable”she replied, particularly embarrassed. To her right, Cindy Fabre then intervened. “Miss France must, sometimes, remain neutral on certain subjects even if that in no way prevents her own convictions and her struggles”recalled the director of Miss France.
