A leading figure of the French far-right and founder of the National Front, Jean-Marie Le Pen died this Tuesday, January 7, 2025. He was 96 years old.

If we know his daughter, Marine Le Pen, and his granddaughter Marion Maréchal well, we know less about the women who shared the politician's life. So who were the wives of Jean-Marie Le Pen?

Tumultuous story with Pierrette Le Pen

First, Jean-Marie Le Pen marries Pierrette Lalanne whom he met in 1958, during a gala evening. They married in 1960 in . This is her second husband. Together, they have three daughters, Marie-Caroline, Yann and Marion Anne Perrine, known as Marine Le Pen.

But in 1972, Pierrette Le Pen filed for divorce for the first time. Then, she sued her husband in 1984, with Gilbert Collard as her lawyer. Their divorce is highly publicized: the two spouses argue with each other through the press.

She also participates in soup kitchens organized by “Entraide française”, an association close to the FN and Protestant.
