A leading figure of the French far-right and founder of the National Front, Jean-Marie Le Pen died this Tuesday, January 7, 2025. He was 96 years old.

If we know his daughter, Marine Le Pen, and his granddaughter Marion Maréchal well, we know less about the women who shared the politician's life. So who were the wives of Jean-Marie Le Pen?

Tumultuous story with Pierrette Le Pen

First, Jean-Marie Le Pen marries Pierrette Lalanne whom he met in 1958, during a gala evening. They married in 1960 in Paris. This is her second husband. Together, they have three daughters, Marie-Caroline, Yann and Marion Anne Perrine, known as Marine Le Pen.

But in 1972, Pierrette Le Pen filed for divorce for the first time. Then, she sued her husband in 1984, with Gilbert Collard as her lawyer. Their divorce is highly publicized: the two spouses argue with each other through the press.

The former model will even go so far as to pose in a maid's outfit, undressed, for the magazine Playboyresponding to the provocation of her ex-husband, interviewed by the magazine, because he refused to pay alimony to his wife.

He then declared: “ if she needs money, she just has to do housework”. Challenge accepted for Pierrette Le Pen, who poses in issue 23 of the magazine, under the title Madame Le Pen naked does the housework.

Marine Le Pen reacted to this episode, saying she was scandalized by the photos. “Today, after these photos, we can no longer consider her our mother,” she reacted. The divorce was finally finalized in 1987.

Married to Jany Le Pen until his death

Since 1991, the founder of the FN has been married to Jany Le Pen (born Jeannine Marie-Louise Paschos). This 92-year-old woman will have shared the life of Jean-Marie Le Pen until his death.

More discreet than the ex-wife of Jean-Marie Le Pen in her political life, she was still considered for a time by her husband to lead the FN list in the European elections, in 1999.

Subsequently, she will be more discreet during her husband's campaigns for the Presidential election. She also declares that she only envisages a simple representative role, devoid of a political or militant connotation, in the event that her husband is elected President of the Republic.

Moreover, Jany Le Pen is known forhis involvement in certain associations: she took over as president of the “SOS Children of Iraq” association and made several trips to the country to bring medicines and medical equipment. She also participates in soup kitchens organized by “Entraide française”, an association close to the FN and Protestant.

She will also say she admires Brigitte Bardot for her commitment to the animal cause.
