In fact, she lost her dog named Guy whom she adopted in 2015 from a dog shelter in Canada. “He had been to an animal shelter in Kentucky and was given a few days to live. I picked it up…and fell in love“, she wrote in the caption of a moving video in which she compiled all the moments of life she had with him, as well as her two children and Prince Harry. And added: “They called him ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and fragile, so I called him Guy. And he was the best guy a girl could have asked for“.
“I hope you understand why I am so devastated by his loss.“
In the rest of her message, she explains that her pet has followed her through all stages of her life, from filming the series Suits in which she played her new life as a mother through her engagement and marriage. “He suffered a terrible accident shortly before I moved to the UK, resulting in him having to undergo surgeries for several months and not being able to leave the clinic. Doctors said he would never walk again, but Dr Noel Fitzpatrick said he could. Harry and I would drive late at night, after hours, to see Guy while he recovered in Surrey for months“, she continued. And concluded: “Because many of you will now see Guy in this new series, I hope you understand why I am so devastated by his loss. (…) Thank you for all these years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know“.
