“The days of gangs would be numbered”, according to the head of the multinational Mission

The multinational mission has increased its numbers over the past week, a move welcomed by the mission’s commander-in-chief, Kenyan police officer Godfrey Otunge. The latter announced firm measures in the fight against gangs for the year 2025.

Port-au-Prince, January 5, 2025 – While welcoming the second group of Guatemalan police-military officers at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, Saturday, January 4, 2025, Godfrey Otunge warned: “The year 2025 will not be not easy for the gangs. »

The commander specified that the Multinational Mission is entering a decisive phase of its operations in support of the Haitian National Police (PNH). According to him, the gangs now have only two options: surrender, lay down their weapons and face justice, or choose confrontation on the ground.

“We are ready, and the gangs will soon experience the full force of our determination,” he threatened.

With the arrival of reinforcements from several contributing countries, the multinational force plans to open new Forward Operating Bases (FOAs), in addition to those already established. This new Guatemalan contingent includes specialized military policemen, both men and women, as well as Salvadoran aviation experts.
