Time has passed since his elimination in the final four of The Voicein 2014. Revealed to the French public in more than ten years of career, Amir is now among the successful talents of the French-speaking scene, notably since his honorable 6th place at the 61st Eurovision contest in 2016 in Stockholm, best score of the French delegation since 2002. And there’s no stopping him: this dental surgery graduate of Israeli origin has released four albums, taken to the stage with the play Selectedjoined the Enfoirés troupe… A career led with great success which he returned to during a meeting with the students of the Star Academy, at the Château de Dammarie-lès-Lys, Monday January 6, 2025.

Amir’s friends advised him not to do Eurovision

The opportunity for the students to ask him questions about his career, his previous job as a dentist or even his time at Eurovision, a world vision competition which has not always been a success for … And these are not not Amir’s friends who said otherwise. “Everyone told me: ‘You’re going to bury your first album, what are you doing? Why are you going? France always comes last!’ I told myself that as long as I did, either it was going to be a big boost for my career… Or I was going to fail, but there would be no failure Because if I’m not a singer, I’m going to be a singer. I’m very happy where I come from”, he answered honestly to the Academicians still in the running to try to succeed Pierre Garnier, big winner of the previous season.

A life as an artist and father of two children

Although he did not win Eurovision with his title I searched, Amir remained close to the organization of the famous competition. The 40-year-old singer subsequently commented on the 2017 edition, with Marianne James and Stéphane Bern, and became a juror of Destination Eurovision in 2018. “I was quite surprised by the proposal at first but I am not able to give up. Even if it was not part of my career plan”he admitted after Pure Chartsin April 2016. Now a father, the interpreter of This evening divides his life between his stage career, his studio albums and his family life after his wife Lital and their two sons, Mikhaël (2019) and Or (2022).
