“Really a shock”: Julien Poulin’s sister reacts to his death

The late actor Julien Poulin not only made his countless fans laugh. He was also the entertainer of his family, from whom he had, however, distanced himself for several years.

“The news really gave me a shock. I burst into tears. I realized that I was the only survivor of the family so that hit me even harder,” he told Journal Marguerite Poulin, younger sister of Julien Poulin.

Upon learning of his death, she particularly remembered the holiday seasons spent during their childhood with her brother and their parents, who lived in the Rosemont district of Montreal.

“We celebrated the holiday season like in the good old days. We sang and we always waited for the highlight of the evening which was him. We laughed at his very funny jokes. At one point, he said he was tired of being the center of the family and having to make people laugh.”

After a “simple and beautiful” childhood, according to his sister, Julien Poulin had disagreements with his family, from whom he distanced himself around twenty years ago.

“There was a breakup for trivial reasons. We have long been a united family and a happy family. He was like my mother in melancholy. There was that side in our family.”

Marguerite Poulin learned of the death of her brother from the media. She doesn’t know the cause of death, but she had started to worry about him because she no longer saw him on television.

“He is someone I loved and always will. I’m sure when he left, he thought of us.”
