What would CES in Las Vegas be without tech pioneers? In the field of floor maintenance, Roborock is obviously one of the key players. Among the new products announced by the Chinese manufacturer, we note in particular the Saros 10 and Saros 10R. Although they are similar in several respects, they still have their own characteristics.
A retractable laser rangefinder
The first model, the Saros 10, has an original navigation system for a robot vacuum cleaner. Indeed, if it is equipped with a classic LDS (laser distance sensor) – materialized by a turret protruding from its cover – it is retractable.

The Saros 10 can then pass under low furniture without difficulty, thanks to its height of approximately 7.98 cm. Concretely, when approaching an obstacle, such as a low piece of furniture, the robot’s laser is stored under the hood and comes out as soon as the area in question is vacuumed.
An RGB camera, side and front lasers complete the navigation system of the Saros 10. Artificial intelligence is also part of the package. Thanks to this armada, Roborock claims that the robot would be able to avoid cables left for dead on the ground.
Like the QRevo, the Saros 10 is equipped with an extendable side brush, which extends along walls and furniture. The main brush would be equipped with anti-tangle technology to prevent hair from getting tangled around it.
Roborock also integrates its VibraRise 4.0 technology into its washing system. which consists of producing 4,000 sonic vibrations per minute. When faced with carpets, the robot prefers to shed its mop in its docking station. To complete the cleaning, the Saros 10 is also equipped with a small side mop to wash as close as possible to obstacles.

The charging base is, like all Roborock robots, very complete. It is made up of two water tanks – dirty and clean – and a dust bag to unload the robot’s collector. Once cleaning is complete, the station washes the mop with water at 80°C. Still according to the manufacturer, only 2 hours 30 minutes would be necessary to fully recharge the batteries; which is particularly fast.
A redesigned navigation system
The Saros 10R also chooses an original navigation system. Its rangefinder disappears completely to make way for an LDS camouflaged in the front of the robot. For the rest, it has the same equipment as the Saros 10. It would thus be able to detect 108 different obstacles, including small ones, such as socks and electric cables.
The R version is also less vigorous than the Saros 10. Its suction power goes from 22,000 Pa to 19,000 Pa, but retains the anti-tangle technology so as not to clog its main brush.

The 10R also chooses two rotating pads, rather than a vibrating mop.
Besides these differences, the two robot vacuum cleaners are similar. If the Saros 10 was to be launched in January, we don’t have the Saros 10R launch date yet. Their price has not been communicated either.
