No mild weather on the horizon, the next two weeks will be cold, with temperatures below seasonal norms. Forecast.

If the transition from 2024 to 2025 was accompanied by roller coaster temperatures, it will be something else for the first half of January. In fact, the next two weeks will tend to be cold for the vast majority of regions of Quebec.

No warm weather on the horizon

By mid-January, at least, we can say goodbye to warm weather and mild temperatures, like those we have experienced in recent days.

Dress warmly tomorrow, because Sunday will be the coldest day in this sequence with -14°C in Montreal, -16°C in Quebec, -13°C in Rimouski and -21°C in Chibougamau.

In southern Quebec, the mercury will then increase until Tuesday, January 7 before falling again, then rising again. Subsequently, temperatures will be closer to seasonal norms and will oscillate slightly between -5°C and -9°C.

This absence of mild weather and therefore, by the same token, these cold temperatures, are caused by an atmospheric pattern which links the descents of arctic air from the north and which move to the south of Quebec, passing through the north of Ontario.

COLD 3

The only exception

If temperatures are below seasonal norms for the majority of Quebecers, only one exception is necessary. This is northern Quebec, where a strong temperature anomaly is currently occurring.
