Director Ron Howard shares video of his wife Cheryl suddenly setting his hair on fire while blowing out his candles

It was a simple family celebration. The 71st birthday of Cheryl Howard, wife of Oscar-winning director Ron Howard, affectionately known as Ama as the inscription on the cake indicates. Surrounded by her children and grandchildren, the queen of the day was about to blow out the candles overlooking the chocolate icing, when suddenly one of her wicks caught fire. The whole family starts screaming, and very quickly, she puts out the flames, with the help of one of the people present at her side. For her part, her husband and ex-star of the series Happy Dayskeep calm: “You burned your hair a little.”

The scene lasted only a few seconds, immortalized by the camera of a member of the Howard clan. “She’s fine, don’t worry”: the one holding the phone wants to reassure all the children and grandchildren, some remaining stunned by what has just happened, like the actor Seth Gabel, married to the couple’s daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard, who we see a little later in the video.

Once recovered from her emotions, Cheryl Howard manages to joke: “You know what? My hair was a little dry!” And Ron Howard concluded by sharing the video on his Instagram account: “All’s well that ends well.” An experience not to be repeated at the time of the couple’s anniversary who will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in June.
