This is the oldest duo of the All Stars season of “Pékin Express” 2024, which Stéphane Rotenberg will give – from India – the starting signal this Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 9:10 p.m. on M6. Hoang and Quyen, the bickering siblings, had participated in “Pékin Express”… in 2010. The description chosen by the production does not come from nowhere. On “La route du bout du monde”, between Ecuador, Chile and Argentina, their journey had been punctuated by spats. One of them has also remained in the annals of television.

“It’s much more tiring compared to what we had known”

Fourteen years later, Hoang and Quyen have only one ambition: “enjoy as much as possible between brother and sister“, they specified together during the press conference organized at M6 on July 1st.”The first adventure brought us closer together. We wanted to surpass ourselves, to know new cultures“. With a major handicap: unlike the six competing pairs, whose first participation is more recent, the brother and sister have discovered a modern version of the adventure game.

On the adventure side, “Peking Express” has not changed. We have found the fundamentals“, explains Quyen in response to a question from puremedias.com. “The pace of the race is much more intense. We clearly didn’t have time to rest. If you miss the stop for two or three minutes, you’re lost. You really have to concentrate, it’s much more tiring compared to what we experienced in 2010.“.

“Tension, energy, stress”

Since 2010, production has indeed injected its share of new rules to renew the program. The forbidden car did not exist at that time. We have added a lot of things that have now made the program mature.“, Stéphane Rotenberg picks up the ball.

In the first seasons, there were a lot of kilometers to drive, which meant you could rest. Then, basically, there was a start, a qualification for the immunity test, a finish and then an intermediate game at most. Now, we start with a start game, there are missions, the candidates are always on their toes. We reduced the number of kilometers because inevitably, they waste time with these little games. This allowed us to add tension, energy and stress, it works very well“.

Another major difference: Hoang and Quyen never fought in a final duel.Overall, before, when you were aware of your ranking, if you were not last, you could calmly roll on. Now, the stress is permanent.“, adds Stéphane Rotenberg.”Now, everyone is on the edge and under pressure. That’s why it’s imperative to win the immunity challenge. It’s true that it’s changed a lot compared to 2010, where we had a lot more changes of pace.“.

A winning duo of “Pékin Express” among the candidates

In addition to Hoang and Quyen, in its selection, the production has retained the profiles of Rose-Marie and Cinzia, the two best friends who were unfortunate finalists of season 14 (“Sur les pistes de la Terre rouge” then “La route des trois continents”) which saw Claire and Christophe triumph in 2021. The father and his daughter are putting their title back into play this year.

Two pairs will also represent the colors of season 17 (“The Secret Choice”). Clément and Émeline, the duo of campsite leaders eliminated at the gates of the semi-final, will once again challenge Nathalie and Angie, the unknown accomplices competing against them in 2023. Another pair who got to know each other during the adventure, Fabrice and Briac, essential unknowns of season 12, validated their ticket just like Jean-Claude and his grandson Axel (season 15).

This season 19 is the third “All Stars” edition of the program born in 2006 after “The Mystery Passenger”, season 8 won in 2012 by the Belgian brothers Ludovic and Samuel, and “Return to the mythical road”, season 13 won in 2020 by the Corsican couple Julie and Denis.
