She rarely speaks about the relationship she has with her daughter. In November 2023, on the set of What an era!the 56-year-old host nevertheless spoke of the difficulty of raising a daughter. “She is tough“, she declared. And to qualify: “But at the same time we are very close so it’s exciting.“Another subject that she almost never talks about: the identity of Alya’s father. However, with Magic Mamanshe had delivered some exceptional information. “My daughter’s father is Jewish-Hungarian. My father comes from Burundi. We really wanted a name for our daughter that evoked both of our origins. Something that was not easy! And we found it. The first name Alya which means in Swahili (so for my father’s origins) ‘the most fervent’, and in Hebrew, ‘the ascent towards God which involves the return to the promised land’. We didn’t choose this name for its meaning, because Alya is neither fervent nor pious (laughs). But we were very proud to have found a mixture of our two origins“, she explained in 2016.
