17 deaths that affected us in Quebec in 2024

The year 2024 is ending and once again this year, several big names from Quebec’s artistic colony have unfortunately left us in recent months.

Pierre Mailloux

On January 12, we learned of the death of controversial psychiatrist Pierre Mailloux, two days before his 75th birthday. The man nicknamed Doc Mailloux had requested medical assistance in dying. He had never recovered from a serious kidney infection that had been plaguing him for three weeks.

Members of the production and cast ofIndefensible were in shock following the announcement of the death of Me Rchard Dubé. He was the creator of the daily newspaper co-written and produced by his partner, Izabel Chevrier, and broadcast on TVA. Recall that the famous criminalist died on January 6 following a heart attack. He was 66 years old. The third season of Indefensible, broadcast since September, is entirely dedicated to him.

On January 17, host and singer Serge Laprade passed away at the age of 83. He had been admitted to the La Prairie Palliative Care House a few days earlier due to a recurrence of cancer. His death occurred the day before he would have celebrated his 50 years of love with his agent, Daniel Arsenault, whom he married on October 8, 2023.

Brian Mulroney


He was a lover of the arts. On February 27, former Prime Minister of Canada Brian Mulroney passed away at the age of 84. In addition to his political functions, he sat on the board of directors of Quebecor for more than 20 years, and was its president since 2014.
