A consultant for Canal+ for a while, the former sportsman ended up joining the sixth channel in 2016 to host multiple entertainment programs, including “La France a un incroyable talent” and “Audition secrète: Qui devenir une star sans le savoir?”. However, four years ago, there was a dramatic turn of events! The former candidate of “Danse avec les stars” was fired by the group. To clarify the situation, the sixth channel then reportedly stated that the termination of his contract was linked to “financial reasons”.

“I could have even made concessions”

Explanations that never convinced David Ginola, who also spoke on this subject in the columns of “Nouvelle Ère”, a magazine of “Nice-Matin”, on June 28. “Would my contract have really made a difference to the group’s dividends? I didn’t force anyone to pay me!” he hammered home to our colleagues. “I could have even made concessions if I had been asked.”

And to complete in complete transparency: “The official excuse was Covid. The postponement of the European Championship.” Although he has fond memories of his time on channel six, David Ginola took the opportunity to vent: “I had some great experiences there, and I thank them for that, but in those moments, a real family sticks together. I didn’t really understand why I was so disregarded.”

However, David Ginola would like to continue presenting other TV shows in the future. “I still want to host an American-style late show, like a bistro conversation.”. he revealed. “I think that the human side necessarily comes out when we are honest and natural with others.”

“Regarding the TV, I have reservations.”

Having nevertheless made a place for himself in the French media landscape, he is aware that his legitimacy in the field can be undermined at any time. “Regarding the TV, I have reservations.”David Ginola stressed. “Unlike football, there is no meritocracy. If someone doesn’t like your face, if you have a bit of a bad moment, everything stops, whereas I had projected myself into this profession.”
