Frédéric Lopez wasted no time. This Sunday, November 24, on the show A Sunday in the countryside, he received Virginie Grimaldi, Dany Boon but also Kendji Girac.
For this special broadcast, he did not hesitate to discuss very personal subjects, in particular the accident suffered by the singer a few months ago. Frédéric Lopez first looks back on his guest's career, recalling that he is celebrating his tenth anniversary. Subsequently, he confides:
“A few months ago, you had an experience that we wouldn't wish on anyone”. The facilitator then specifies: “You were part of the “miscellaneous news” section.
Frédéric Lopez did not want to make his guest uncomfortable and so he gave him a solution. “What I propose is that at the end of the weekend, you choose to talk about it or not”he said before continuing:
“I’ll understand if you don’t want to.” The journalist also intends to discuss Kendji Girac's new album, entitled Vivre and which is a response to this story. As Frédéric Lopez indicated during an interview a few days ago, the singer agreed to discuss this accident in complete transparency. “You know, we ask the question “Is there a subject that should not be discussed?”, he didn’t give any,” he declared, specifying that he would have understood if the latter refused.
Kendji Girac: this accident which could have been fatal to him
Kendji Girac's life took a very unexpected turn last April. The singer was in the busy area of Biscarrosse when he was shot. He was quickly transferred to Bordeaux hospital and it was subsequently indicated that it was an accidental shooting, caused by himself. It would have been following a domestic dispute that the events took place. Today, this affair is only a bad memory for Kendji Girac who wishes to move forward. “It feels weird to talk about it,” he said in the show, facing Frédéric Lopez.
Kendji Girac knows that this news item marked his career. He confides that he was able to benefit from the support of his loved ones but also of his fans. A precious gift which was very beneficial for his convalescence. “But their love, that of the public, allowed me to rebuild myself at an incredible speed”, he declared, very touched. In terms of private life, his partner Soraya was very present, helping him get back on his feet on a daily basis. “My wife has been there every moment,” he said, thanking her once again for never giving up on him.
Frédéric Lopez: a host who respects his guests
With this show, Frédéric Lopez aims to put at ease people who come for a weekend. Thus, he gave Kendji Girac the opportunity not to approach this part of his life.
“Honestly, I would have agreed if he didn't talk about it.” he asserted, subsequently specifying: “What we forget is that it’s something very intimate.” This tragic accident was widely publicized but Kendji Girac could have chosen not to talk about it. However, the singer preferred to talk about it in complete transparency, showing in particular that he is doing much better today.
“It’s an incredible mark of confidence,” concluded Frédéric Lopez, delighted that his guest was able to let loose on a sensitive subject.
