Queen Camilla, resplendent at the gala of the diplomatic corps with Charles III and Prince William

After a difficult week, Queen Camilla is back on the arm of her husband, King Charles. It has been a week since the sovereign's wife was seen in public. Suffering from a lung infection, Camilla had attended a reception on the afternoon of November 12, but continued to recover. On November 18, Buckingham Palace announced that the Queen's beloved dog, named Beth, had passed away. Camilla demonstrated her strength of character this November 19 during the traditional dinner of the diplomatic corps.

Showing no sign of weakness, she appeared radiant, dressed in her favorite color, blue, from head to toe. Camilla had chosen a long blue velvet dress, designed by her favorite designer, Fiona Clare. Delicately placed on her hair, the aquamarine ribbon tiara, a piece of jewelry she is wearing for the first time. Five aquamarine stones connected by an interweaving of diamonds. Rarely worn, this precious accessory had however been seen several times on the head of Sophie of Edinburgh, during the weddings of the Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg in 2012, and that of Madeleine of Sweden in 2013. Matching her tiara, a necklace and earrings from her private collection, also in aquamarine and diamonds, adorned the neck and face of the queen consort.

On his arm, Charles III also pulled out all the stops in a tuxedo. Knee-length breeches and buckled moccasins gave her a more than royal look. The sovereign couple wowed their 900 guests during this evening, the most important of the year, which traditionally takes place on the first Tuesday in December. It is impossible to make this date coincide with the state visit of the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Sheika Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Than on December 3 and 4. As a result, reception was brought forward to November 19.

To support the king and queen, Prince William was also present. And dressed to the nines. Dressed like his father, he wore a slew of medals including the Order of Bath, the Garter, the Thistle and the coronation medal. Decorations which did not hide the absence on his arm of the one which usually illuminates this winter reception. No Princess of Wales, Kate is still recovering and cannot have too many commitments, the organization of the recording of her Christmas concert scheduled for December 6 at Westminster Abbey, taking up all her time. The 2023 diplomatic corps gala also marks Kate's last appearance in a long dress and tiara.

The message from Kensington Palace is clear, if Prince William's wife has appeared in public several times since the start of the school year and the end of her chemotherapy treatment, she does not intend to immediately return to her usual work rhythm. His appearances will still be distilled sparingly. No rush, Kate's health remains the priority.
