The Beckhams’ mansion in the English countryside

After living abroad for many years, David and Victoria Beckham returned to England with their children in 2014. She spent £4 million renovating a house in Holland Park, London. The project was initially entrusted to Kelly Hoppen, before she handed over to interior designer Rose Uniacke, who has mastered serene, refined spaces, coinciding with Victoria’s change in style. But where do the Beckhams live now? In 2016, the couple bought the crown jewel of their property portfolio: a £12 million mansion in the Cotswolds, which features prominently in their new Netflix documentary, Beckham, by Fisher Stevens. Here’s what we know about the property in the English countryside.

In December 2018, David Beckham revealed that he had purchased an Estonian Hound for his Cotswold estate. The house is near Chipping Norton and a stone’s throw from the celebrity-favorite Soho Farmhouse. It is also close to Prince Harry and Meghan’s rural retreat at Great Tew Estate. The garden includes a swimming pool, surrounded by a stone wall and beautiful greenery.

Unsurprisingly, the garden of the former captain of the England team is also characterized by the presence of a football pitch. The family was not content with just this garden, they added beekeeping to the list of activities they could practice on their rural estate. Inside, the rustic walls would be covered in wood paneling, rugs and artwork by Tracey Emin would adorn the floors and walls.

A place to get away with the family

With the help of British landscaper Marcus Barnett, the Beckhams considerably improved the grounds: a “natural” swimming lake filled with recycled water, beehives and gardens, distinct from the fields and orchard where 23 species of trees are represented. They add to this a football field with stands. “I wanted a place where we could escape,” recounts David as he walks around the property early in the morning in the third episode of the documentary series.

The Beckhams are also installing an outdoor swimming pool, a traditional Estonian sauna, a hot tub and an infinity pool. One media outlet even reports that the couple is filing an application with the county for another evacuation tunnel. A $61,000 safari-style tent is also pitched near the pool, with all the amenities of an outdoor kitchen, including a stainless steel charcoal stove that doubles as a dining table. “On Saturday mornings I walk here, David says about the tent in the documentary series. I’m there from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., 10 p.m., sometimes later, grilling.”
