Actor Josh O'Connor, one of the stars of the film “Challengers” released in theaters last April, has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg's next feature film. The British actor to watch will notably star alongside Emily Blunt and Colin Firth.
Oh my Josh! The cast of Steven Spielberg's next feature film is expanding, and the latest name revealed is enough to delight fans of the series “The Crown” or the torrid “Challengers”, since the Briton Josh O'Connor will be part of the project.
A science fiction film?
If the next film from the most profitable director in history does not yet have a title, certain elements have been revealed. A five-star casting first, since alongside the actor Josh O'Connor will be the actress Emily Blunt, seen in “The Devil Wears Prada”, the Oscar winner Colin Firth, admirable in “The Speech of 'a king' and touching in 'Bridget Jones' Diary', or even Colman Domingo (seen in 'Euphoria' and the remake of 'The Color Purple') as well as Eve Hewson, already present in 'Bridge of Spies' by Steven Spielberg.
The upcoming feature film from the director with round glasses will be based on a screenplay by David Koepp, the filmmaker's long-time collaborator and to whom we owe “Jurassic Park”, “War of the Worlds” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Although specific plot details have not been revealed, sources told US magazine 'The Hollywood Reporter' that it had science fiction elements and was the first so-called production Steven Spielberg’s “big budget” since “Ready Player One” in 2018.

The 34-year-old actor Josh O'Connor stood out in the hit series “The Crown”, for his role as King Charles III in his younger years, perfect as a rebellious pre-adult seeking to establish himself within the the royal family. He later gained wider popularity through the film “Challengers,” the story of a love triangle involving three tennis players starring Zendaya and Mike Faist.
Josh O'Connor, magnetic on clay, hypnotizes the world of the 7th art and is currently starring in the film “The Mastermind” by Kelly Reichart. He will also appear in “Wake Up Dead Man”, third sequel to the film “Knives Out” by Rian Johnson.
Barely announced and already an event, Steven Spielberg's film, produced by Universal Pictures, will be released in theaters on May 15, 2026.
