Philippe Bouvard is certainly the oldest French animator still in practice. While he had
94 ans last December, he still continues to officiate on RTL, where he writes a weekly column. Although he still feels in great shape,
the comedian recently announced that he will retire permanently on January 1.

“There is a temptation, which is not a temptation of laziness, but a temptation of record, and that is to go until January 1st, that won’t be bad enough, and then to listen to others and be silent”explained Philippe Bouvard on RTL last Sunday. “On January 1, I will have established the double record that I hoped for, that is to say 60 years of radio and 60 years of RTL.” These words echo declarations
which he made in an interview with Jordan De Luxe in 2023.

Philippe Bouvard seems tireless. However, the French host and comedian has already explained that he is starting to feel tiredness due to his great age. On June 12, 2023, he appeared in the broadcast of
Jordan De Luxe. Facing the presenter, Philippe Bouvard admitted that he has faced some health problems in recent years.

“I’m still alive, but not completely!”in fact explained the host to Jordan De Luxe. “Old age has given me some infirmities, some handicaps, but which I have learned to live with”he later clarified in the show At Jordan’s. Despite these
health problemshe however wanted to ensure that he retained all his memory.

Philippe Bouvard still has all his wits about him, says the comedian

“I accept what is wrong”launched Philippe Bouvard in the show At Jordan’s. According to him, these are mainly his sight and hearing who leave “to be desired”. “But for the rest, my memory is intact.” This is also what allowed this host to stay on RTL for so long. On the other hand, he admitted having to be accompanied to play pokerone of his passions.

“What is most complicated is playing casino poker first. It was one of my vices. I still go and play from time to time, but I am accompanied by someone who tells me about the dealer’s cards”, expressed Philippe Bouvard. Despite these disabilitiesthe host does not want to remain inactive, even after his retirement which he will take in 2025.

Philippe Bouvard is working on the publication of his 70th book

The longevity of Philippe Bouvard French radio is impressive, as is his career. It was in fact he who created The big heads in 1977. The comedian also had to agree to give up his place to Laurent Ruquier in 2014. Today, he still appears regularly on RTL and in the magazine VSD.
