May 22. In Buckingham, several hundred guests wait in the gardens, heels planted in the soggy grass, umbrellas to protect themselves. The event is unmissable: a garden party chaired by Prince William. The heir to the throne – in a top hat and jacket – mingles with the crowd, all smiles despite the autumn weather. At his side, his cousins – Eugenie and Beatrice of York, Zara Tindall – and his cousin, Peter Phillips, whose presence is noted.

A listening ear during Kate’s cancer ordeal

In recent weeks, Princess Anne’s eldest son – and first of Elizabeth II’s grandchildren – has taken up more and more space in the family photo. He turns out to be a real pillar for Prince William, who must occupy the media scene alone in Kate’s absence.

Peter Phillips has neither aristocratic title nor predicate of royal highness. A choice of his father, Captain Mark Phillips, who had also refused the peerage offered to him by the Queen as a traditional wedding gift. His mother, Princess Anne, will also welcome this decision, which, according to her, has allowed her eldest son, Peter, as well as her youngest daughter, Zara, to chart their own course.

“Sexiest Man of the Year”

Which doesn’t stop Peter from attracting the light. From his adolescence, he left no one indifferent. Sporty and handsome, he was voted “sexiest man of the year”, in the elite category, by the American magazine “People” in 1998.

In 2003, this heartbreaker met the woman who would become his wife, during a Formula 1 Grand Prix in Montreal. Her name is Autumn Kelly and she knows nothing about the life of this man with whom she falls in love. However, she followed him to England and converted to the Anglican rite to marry him.

The wedding took place on May 17, 2008 at Windsor Castle. Peter and Autumn will have two daughters together: Savannah, born in 2010, and Isla, born in 2012. Then they will separate in 2020, after 12 years of marriage.

A heartbreaker

Peter quickly recovers from this breakup, in the arms of a certain Lindsay Wallace, a Scottish woman, friend of his sister Zara since adolescence, and also mother of two children. The lucky lady will even have the opportunity to meet Elizabeth II, after a hunting trip to Windsor.

We were hoping for a new engagement… But in April 2024, the couple announced their separation. The reason given? Their schedules were incompatible. Here again, Peter does not let himself be defeated. This month of May, during a horse race, he was seen in charming company.

An advertisement that doesn’t get through

Peter is a busy boy. And it must be admitted that he has business sense. In 2008, he also sold the exclusivity of his marriage with Autumn to “Hello” magazine, for the tidy sum of 500,000 euros. Which didn’t fail to get people talking!

In 2020, he also stood out by participating in an advertisement for a milk brand in China. Again a scandal! Because if Peter has the right to make money as he sees fit, he cannot use his royal ancestry to do so.

Two cousins like two brothers

Over the years and events, Peter and William grew closer. Already, in 1997, the day after the death of Lady Diana, Princess Anne’s son rushed to Balmoral Castle to comfort his two cousins, motherless, and try to change their minds.

Prince Harry’s departure for the United States left a void in the Firm… as much as in William’s heart. The Prince of Wales believed that his little brother would be his main support in his future reign. But he now has to do without him. Peter might just be the perfect replacement.
