As an aspiring actor in Hollywood in the ’70s, it would have been surprising if Kevin Costner didn’t come face to face with a line of cocaine at one point or another. However, it was not during an evening among celebrities that the actor was first put into contact with this product, but while he was still working as a manager in a film studio, well before drill.

At the time, a team of electricians had come in to install cables in preparation for a big production, and Kevin Costner took it upon himself to help them as much as he could. At the end of this three-week long project, the technicians wanted to thank the young man that he was by offering him a little something.

“At one point they brought me into the control room and said, ‘Here,’ and they brought out a little line of coke. Then they said to me: ‘Thank you for everything you do for us,'” the star of Yellowstone on the podcast microphone Armchair Expert.

Not very excited about it, Kevin Costner had a reaction which had the effect of shattering this moment of camaraderie and sealing his relationship with cocaine forever.

Kicked out of the club

“I said, ‘Hey, how much does that cost?’ He said, “It costs about $20,” and I said, “Can I tell you something?” He said, “Yes, f*cking. Sure, man, what?” I said, “Look, I’m trying to buy my first house. If you think what I’m doing is cool, I’d rather have $20.” And I was kicked out of the club immediately,” said Kevin Costner.

Later, once he became famous, the Hollywood veteran felt very lucky not to like cocaine where so many people around him were addicted, starting with his friend Whitney Houston whose death, at the age aged 48, was partly caused by this substance.
