Léa Salamé flies to the aid of Alexia Laroche-J…

Saturday October 27, 2024, on the set of “What an era!”, Alexia Laroche-Joubert found herself at the heart of a tense exchange with Laurence Haïm concerning her mother, the famous war reporter Martine Laroche-Joubert. A discussion which pushed Léa Salamé to intervene.

What was supposed to be a simple promotion of the series “Cult” turned into a passionate debate on the set of France 2. Indeed, Alexia Laroche-Joubert had to face questions from Laurence Haïm concerning her career choice, very different from that of his mother, a war reporter.

A confrontation around maternal heritage

The tension rose a notch when Laurence Haïm called out to the 54-year-old producer: “I'm sorry, but I always wondered what happened that you didn't make a film to help reporters“.

Faced with this remark, Alexia Laroche-Joubert delivered an unprecedented response, explaining that her mother represented “such a symbol, so high“, that it was impossible for her to venture into her territory. The producer also defended her vision: “It tells of a society at war, I tell of a society that could perhaps be considered idle. It's another company.”.

The unexpected support of Léa Salamé

If Laurence Haïm has a deep admiration for Martine Laroche-Joubert, whom she describes as a “extraordinary woman” et “Magnificent“here he at”made me want to do this job“, she did not hesitate to point out Alexia's responsibilities in the current media landscape.

The producer then spoke of the treatment reserved for her mother's work, deploring in particular that her documentary on Gaza was only broadcast at “a quarter past midnight”, even though it “was exceptional”.

Faced with these criticisms, Alexia Laroche-Joubert defended herself: “I completely agree with you. But it's not by attacking me that you'll solve the problem“. It was at this moment that Léa Salamé intervened to reframe the debate, pointing the finger at those truly responsible: “It's not just her, it's the broadcasters' fault“. A position which made it possible to close the discussion, despite Laurence Haïm's insistence on the fact that Alexia Laroche-Joubert is “a powerful woman in this world“.
