“Advance” is a very common remuneration process in the world of music and publishing. After signing his contract, the author receives a sum of money, often substantial, which he will reimburse later with the income generated by the sales of records or books. The sales of Liam’s first album did not cover the amount he owed Capitol Records.

Furthermore, the English media point out that the record company had decided to delay the release of the second album before definitively parting ways with him.
