the singer fired by the Universal record company a few days before his death

Liam Payne’s record company, Universal , decided to cancel his contract a few days before his death on October 16 in Argentina.

A series of hard blows. Liam Payne, former member of the famous group One Direction, was fired by his record label, Universal Music, just days before his tragic death on Wednesday, October 16 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after a fatal fall from the third floor of ‘a hotel, reported the Daily Mail.

“Liam’s advance was considerable and he didn’t repay it. Of the members of One Direction, he seemed to be the one who was struggling the most musically,” a source said.

Initially signed to Sony with One Direction, the artist joined Capitol Records, a Universal Music label, in July 2016 when he launched his solo career at just 22 years old. During the recent reshuffle of the company, the label was integrated into the parent company, satisfying the singer who had always been “delighted” to collaborate with the prestigious record company.

“He didn’t have much left”

Under their leadership, Liam Payne released his solo album, “LP1”, in 2019, but it did not meet with the expected success. Work on his second album was put on hold after the failure of his last single “Teardrops”, released last March.

In addition, his long-time press secretary reportedly resigned in early October. “It feels like Liam’s entire music career that he’s built since he went solo eight years ago is falling apart, he doesn’t have much left. It must have completely devastated him,” the source added.

Following his tragic death following a fatal fall from his hotel room balcony, Universal Music Group paid tribute to him on social media, saying: “We are devastated by the tragic passing of Liam Payne. His legacy will live on through his music and the countless fans he inspired and who adored him. We send our deepest condolences to Liam’s family and loved ones.” Capitol Records also re-released the statement.
