It is a little early that Felipe VI and Letizia are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. Friday May 17, five days before the anniversary, the Palace unveiled a series of photos celebrating the royal couple’s porcelain wedding. It was with family, surrounded by their two daughters, that the king and his wife posed in the gardens of the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid.

Sneakers for the queen and her eldest, jeans for the youngest, unbuttoned shirt for the sovereign… Forget the formal portraits, for this wedding anniversary, Felipe and Letizia chose to appear as a family, in a relaxed way. Parents and children then display their tender complicity, exchanging hugs, hugs and moments of intimacy in the open air.

Looking at the queen’s outfit, this photo session could well have been organized on May 6. That day, Letizia from Spain attended a concert in Madrid and wore this same outfit: a pink Mango jacket, white pants and sneakers, she who now avoids high heels…

Make way for inexpensive Spanish brands

At 18, Leonor clearly continues to be inspired by her mother’s style since the princess wore the same pair of Boss sneakers for this family photo shoot. The Princess of Asturias – who made the trip despite her military training in Zaragoza – also shops in mainstream Spanish brands since her blue blazer comes from Zara. A taste for accessible fashion that she shares with her sister, the Infanta Sofia (17), who for her part wore a Mango tweed jacket with jeans and black ballerinas.

Wednesday May 22, Felipe and Letizia will have been married for 20 years. On May 22, 2004, almost two years after meeting at a party at a mutual friend’s house, the couple married with great fanfare in Madrid’s Almudena Cathedral, in front of 1,200 guests. The one who was then a journalist at RTVE had chosen for her wedding dress a model in evening fault and silver thread made by the Spanish couturier Manuel Pertegaz. An outfit completed with a magnificent diamond tiara lent by Queen Sophie.

The couple’s first daughter, Leonor, was born the following year. Then came Infanta Sofia, in 2007.
