According to BFM TV, Gad Elmaleh will buy the cabaret in liquidation Chez Michou, to make it a “place of comedy and humor, while keeping the soul of the place”.
The genius of humor Gad Elmaleh will become the new owner of the cabaret At Michou, legendary cabaret located Rue des Martyrs in the 9th arrondissement. It would aim to create a new place for comedy and humor according to BFM TV sources.
Founded in 1956 by Michouwhose real name is Michel Catty, Le Cabaret Michou has become a true institution, embodying the spirit of celebration and freedom. The artists imitated singing stars like Dalida, Édith Piaf or Céline Dion, in performances full of fantasy. Michou hosted the cabaret until his death in 2020. The place, now in liquidation, would have been bought by God Elmaleh.

It’s no surprise that the comedian wants to make it a temple of humor! Having started with mini sketches and small Parisian scenes, Gad Elmaleh often supported emerging comedians, such as Kev Adams or Roman Frayssinet. Le Cabaret Michou, closed since the end of June 2024, should therefore be given a new lease of life while maintaining a certain authenticity according to the communications team of God Elmaleh.
The new place should not, however, keep its old name even if no official name has yet been communicated. Gad Elmaleh is not the only comedian to embark on the creation of a place dedicated to humor, comedians Kev Adams, Fary, Baptiste Lecaplain have also created their places dedicated to stand-up.
For fans of the actor Pethis new show HimselfIt can be discovered from January 28 to February 15, 2025 at the Dôme de Paris. The opportunity to wait while waiting for the opening of the new temple of humor which will replace Michou’s.
