Spike Lee and Jack Nicholson to join fans’ Hall of Fame

You probably know the Hall of Fame, reserved for players, coaches, managers and even referees who have written the legend of basketball. But do you know about the “superfans” Hall of Fame? This memorial, reserved for fans “hardcore”will welcome four new members, including Spike Lee and Jack Nicholson. Just that.

Just goes to show that being in the front row every night to shout out in support of your favorite franchise can sometimes pay off. The proof is that four of the most famous fans in the entire NBA will be honored and join the Hall of Fame as “superfans”: Spike Lee and Jack Nicholson, but also Billy Crystal and Alan Horowitz.

To be part of this very closed circle, however, you must meet certain criteria. The league indicates, for example, that these gentlemen have “contributed significantly to the rich culture of basketball”and that “their unwavering dedication to the game and ability to connect with fans makes them truly deserving of this recognition.”

NEWS: Spike Lee is among four NBA “superfans” who will be added to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s James F. Goldstein SuperFan Gallery next Sunday.

Pretty dope gesture.

Not everyone is a “superfan”, therefore.

That said, we are still talking about legendary supporters here. Known without basketball, of course, but nonetheless unremovable from the landscape of certain franchises. Besides, is there really a fan more notable than Spike Lee (Knicks) in the history of the Great League? The dude has been front row at Madison Square Garden almost every night since 1985, has feuded with half the NBA, and given us some of the most legendary player-fan interactions of all time.

The famous “choke sign” by Reggie Miller was for example intended for him.

If the Knicks have Spike Lee, the Lakers – they – can boast of having Jack Nicholson in courtside. Well, not so much anymore because he’s still 87 years old, but he’s been a Lakers fan since the 70s. A die-hard fan, known for sitting very close to the opposing bench, just to tease the visitors a little. . A strong head therefore, which forever marked the Pourpre et Or franchise.

Also note that the neighbors of the Clippers will also have a fan introduced to the Hall of Fame. This is the actor Billy Crystalknown – among others – for his roles in “Deux Cops à Chicago” or “Mafia Blues”, and a fan of Clips since the end of the 1970s. Finally, this 2024 vintage will also be an opportunity to reward Alan Horwitzan American businessman who has subscribed to the Sixers for more than 60 years.

So many beautiful people. Enough to slowly begin to fill the Hall of Fame of “superfans”, which only opened its doors in 2018.
