SENEGAL-ENVIRONMENT-EDUCATION / Thiès: El Hadji Malick Sy high school hosts cleaning day – Senegalese press agency

Thiès, Oct 5 (APS) – The Malick Sy high school in Thiès (west) hosted on Saturday the launching activities of the fifth national cleaning day “Sétal sunu reew” dedicated to educational establishments, in the presence of the Minister of Energy , Oil and Mines, Birame Souleye Diop, noted the APS.

”The center of interest which was the subject of our presence here, justified that we immerse ourselves directly in the activity,” declared Mr. Diop.

The goal, he explained, is to make the country clean. “But we chose to do it at the level of schools and high schools, a program in the hands of the Ministry of National Education,” he added.

The minister expressed his “pride” in participating in this cleaning day at Malick Sy high school.

Birame Souleye Diop believes that it was not only a question of cleaning the school establishment, but also of restoring the bench tables.

“We found a company of young people who work in this area and who are participating with us in restoring the bench tables,” he said, stressing that they will also restore the plumbing.

“We brought in sewer trucks to empty the septic tanks,” continued the minister.

A donation of teaching materials consisting of works in the program (literature and mathematics books) was given to the Malick Sy high school in Thiès, to, he said, “participate in the development and distribution of knowledge”.

”We made a contribution in computer equipment and printing equipment. We played a part with all the authorities of the department,” he rejoiced.
