Intervention by Christophe Beaugrand

It didn’t take long to see an outpouring of hatred on social media. Notably a tweet from Marion Maréchal, a French far-right politician, sharing the designer’s announcement with a phrase “Where is the mother?”

A comment which has revived the debate on GPA (Gestation Pour Autrui). Guest on BFMTV, Jean-Philippe Tanguy, deputy of the RN party (National Rally), was keen to support Marion Maréchal regarding her remark on social networks. “I have seen outbursts against Marion Maréchal, but no, surrogacy is prohibited in . So the fact that we can break the law because we have more means, because we are rich, because we have to use the word, because a GPA is very expensive, and therefore we can do a middle finger to French legislation by considering that because we belong to a certain elite, we can not respect French laws, it is lamentable.”, he explained on the air.

Invited in turn on the set of C dans l’air, the host of TF1, Christophe Beaugrand, did not have his tongue in his pocket and wanted to respond to the MP’s comments: “We will have to respond to this gentleman who is supposed to write the laws that he obviously does not know the law. It is absolutely not illegal to use surrogacy in a country where it is regulated”he explained to presenter Caroline Roux before adding: “SNote that there is a circular from Christiane Taubira in 2013 which makes it easier to obtain papers for French parents who have used surrogacy abroad. Me, my child, he is registered on the Family Booklet, he has a French birth certificate, so I clearly forbid anyone from saying that I have circumvented French law, that I am a delinquent, that my child was bought abroad”.

Obviously very upset, the host concluded by explaining that even if they are a minority in France, families deserve respect.

That’s what it says…
