At 52, musician Matthieu Chedid releases a new album entitled The Mirror Hour. -M- covers most of his hits, as well as classics of French song but also new tracks. In full promo, the singer of Which of us two? was interviewed by The Parisian Weekend this Friday, September 20. Louis Chedid’s son returned to the simple moments he shares with his two children (Tao, born in 2019 and a little girl born in 2021) born from his relationship with his partner Loïca Saint-M’leux. -M- is also the father of the charming Billie Chedid, 22, whom he had with Céline Bary.
Since his early childhood, the singer has spent his free time in Seine-et-Marne, the region where his mother’s family has been for four generations. It is therefore natural that Matthieu Chedid spends most of his weekends “in the family home” with his children and his friends. “It is a haven of peace, a remarkable place“, he says. Although the most awarded artist at the Victoires de la Musique has set up a music studio there, he admits to trying to take advantage of these moments to “disconnect from work” in order to “immerse yourself in nature. The house is surrounded by magnificent trees, such as a cedar of Lebanon that was planted in 1789. It takes me back to my origins!” he continues.
The man who became a father again at 50 says he takes refuge in a cabin, perched in an oak tree, twelve metres high.This is my refuge. I’m like an owl in its hole. It is about 12 square meters, with a terrace overlooking a pond. And there, I compose, I write, I read while always being very calm“, reveals the guitarist.

But above all, the grandson of the writer and poet Andrée Chedid pays maximum attention to his children.When I am with my children, who are still small, I get up early to spend time with them. I like to take them on bike rides to a farm where there are horses. The place is superb. We then go for a walk along the Grand Morin, a river on which kanoe-kayaks often parade. We sit on the banks and watch them go by“, confides Matthieu Chedid.
His favorite moment?The visit to the chicken coop!“, answers Billie’s dad. Before mentioning his entire menagerie: “We also have a dozen chickens, but also sheep, a dog… I love feeding the animals with my children, and taking them for little rides on the electric tractor. Connecting with nature together, around this house located in the middle of the fields, is magical..”
