From January 1, 2026, in Spain, all motorists, both Spanish and foreign, will have to have a rotating light in their car, learned “ici Béarn Bigorre” (formerly France-Bleu), from Spanish road safety.
This magnetic V16 rotating beacon will replace the warning triangle in the event of an accident. It must be placed on the roof of the car or on the driver's door, who will therefore not have to get out of his car, to install the warning triangle 50 or 100 meters from the vehicle.
The goal is to “progress in the field of road safety and accident reduction”explains the Spanish General Directorate of Traffic on its website on Wednesday January 15. This rotating beacon also allows you to be geolocated: emergency services will know exactly where to intervene and will even be able to warn cars well in advance on motorways with alerts on information panels. If there is no rotating light in the vehicle, the fine could reach 200 euros.
